Caramel Pie

1-1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup hot water
4 Tablespoon flour
3 egg yolks, beaten
1- 1/2 cup milk
2 Tablespoon butter
1 teas. Vanilla
1 baked 9" pie crust


Brown 1/2 cup of the sugar in heavy sauce pan, add hot water. Mix together flour and remaining sugar.Add egg yolks, beating until smooth. Add milk. Pour in browned sugar, add butter and vanilla. Cook until thick. Pour in crust. Top with meringue and bake in 350* oven until brown.
