BLT Soup

Ingredients:

1/3 lb. bacon, diced
1 Tablespoon butter
1/3 head lettuce, julienne (2" x 1 1/2")
3 Tablespoon flour
5 cups hot water
3 chicken & 1 ham bouillon cubes
1 ( 16 oz. ) can of diced tomatoes
1/8 teas. each nutmeg & red pepper
1 cup half & half

Instructions:

In dutch oven, saute bacon until brown.Do not drain the fat. Add butter & stir in lettuce & saute for 2 min.. Add flour & saute 2 to 3 min.. Remove from heat & stir in water, bouillon cubes, tomatoes, nutmeg, & pepper. Simmer for 6 to 8 min. Add 1 cup of half & half & heat to simmering.
